Every lot we ship is tested for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury by the University of Guelph’s Agriculture and Food Laboratory, an independent lab accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 for this test.

The standard we hold each lot to
We compare one serving to California’s Proposition 65 limits, some of the strictest in North America, and to the U.S. EPA reference dose for mercury. Nobody requires us to use them. If a lot is over the limit, it doesn’t ship.
What the numbers mean
A result shown as “<” means the amount was too small for the lab to measure. It does not mean zero. These metals occur naturally in soil and water and turn up in ordinary food. That’s why we’ll never call our protein heavy-metal free. We give you the number instead.
Summaries are prepared by TLC from the original laboratory report. Lot numbers are assigned by our packer and linked to each sample. Results apply to the sample tested. The complete laboratory report is available on request.
